From our Queensland, Australia Trip
17 July to 27 November 1998

LADY ELLIOT ISLAND is a 100-acre coral cay on and is the southernmost island in the Great Barrier Reef. It lies just within the southern boundary of the designated World Heritage area. After taking a 5am bus from Brisbane north up the coast to Hervey Bay, we boarded 15 seat planes for the 40 minute flight to Lady Elliot Island. Lady Elliot is the only cay on the Reef that has an "airport". You can see that the strip runs the entire length of the island.... and you use all of it for both landings and take-offs.
