ON THE SNIGGING TRACK. While at Lamington National
Park, we took many hikes to study various types of forest structure. Though
the park consists primarily of subtropical raingforest, wherever soil fertility
and rainfall are lower, there is more open forest. Here Don Butler of the Botany
Department at the University of Queensland describes an more open ecotone at the edge
of the rainforest along the Snigging Track which was formerly a logging trail.
