Deidre McCalla,

singer/songwriter and inspirational activist is coming to william smith and hobart colleges as part of the reclaiming the sunlight conference.

 

 

She will give an amazing performance to close the conference on saturday, march 8th at 7pm in the Albright Auditorium.

 

 

this event is free and open to everyone.

 

 

Albright is located in Lansing, on St. Clair Street.

Text Box: From the moment Deidre McCalla takes the stage, her engaging presence and irresistible blend of folk, country, rock, and pop seize  listeners by the heart and won't let go.  Her first album, Fur Coats and Blue Jeans, was released at the age of 19 while a student at Vassar College. She is known by many as the "dreadlocked troubadour." She is Co-Founder of FamilyPride of the South (formerly Atlanta FamilyPride) a support organization for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered families. Her work has been published in Home Girls: A Black Feminist Anthology, The Original Coming Out Stories, as well as Chrysalis: A Feminist Quarterly. She has now released 5 albums and performed in many venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Michegan Womyn’s Festival. She lives with her homeschooled son in Georgia.
