About Me
Hi. I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. My work focuses on international relations and the operation of the international political economy. My regional areas of interest and research are South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
I was born in a small village in northern Bihar which is just south of Nepal. I am Nepali and Indian by heritage, and American by nationality.
My family immigrated to the US when I was a little kid. We first settled in southern Illinois, where my uncle had been living since the fifties. Later we moved to northeast Ohio.
I went to DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana for my undergraduate degree and the University of Chicago for my MA. I completed my Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Some time in between all of that I also attended St. Antony's College, Oxford University as a Queen Elizabeth visiting scholar.
In the past, I have taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr College, the American University in Cairo, and Mount Holyoke College.
