Letter to the Classes of '79, '82, '85, '89, '93,
'97 and 2001
Greetings once again to the Classes of '79, '82, '85, '89, and
'93 and a new greeting to the classes of '97 and 2001! Your help
is being requested in this ongoing sociological study of post-collegiate
life among graduates. As a member of one of these classes you are
part of a very special research project that has become now a tradition
at HWS with response rates that are unparalleled in any research
on college graduates in this country.
The response to the first survey in 1987 (classes of '79, '82
and '85) was unprecedented (860 of you responded or 76%)! In the
1991 version of this survey the class of '89 was added and 1,151
of you responded (70%). Then in 1996 the third round was launched
and included the class of '93. Again the response was huge with
1,394 of you replying for another incredible 70% response rate.
Most recently in 1999 I conducted another survey of these classes
and 64% responded.
I have added the classes of '97 and '01 for the current study.
All graduates of the seven classes are being contacted and asked
to complete the Post-Collegiate Life Survey regardless of whether
or not you participated previously. Participation is anonymous as
in past surveys and voluntary, of course, but every member of these
classes is urged to respond so that all views and experiences among
graduates from a variety of backgrounds will be adequately represented.
Here is the accummulated response since launching the latest survey
on April 15, 2003:

If you did not receive a survey, please contact me at perkins@hws.edu
Thank you for your help and continued interest in this study!
