White Water Rafting

Today ORAP ran a white water rafting trip to the Black River in the western part of the Adirondacks. We had a total of 23 people that split up into 3 groups. Niagara University joined us in the adventure. We ran class 3 and 4 rapids on the river, many of us our first experience with rafting. We took two swims in the rapids (58 deg water... burr). We spent about an hour at one rapid that the boats continually got stuck in. Despite the numerous rescues performed on the boats that got caught in the rapid, people kept paddling in to surf the feature.

After a leisurely tow back up the river towards the busses, we enjoyed a nice barbecue prepared for us by the guiding company. It was a great experience that I am sure everyone will remember for a long time!
