The Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded on December 10, 1869 by five friends and brothers at the University of Virginia in Charlotsville, Virginia. The five met in William Grisby McCormick's room on 46 East Lawn. There, they made an oath, an oath which bonds all Kappa Sigmas, in the pursuit of learning.
There are currently 203 Kappa Sigma chapters and 6 colonies, making the fraternity one of the 10 largest in the world, with over 200,000 initiates. There are also 70 active alumni chapters in the USA and Canada.
The Delta Phi Chapter of Kappa Sigma here on campus was reinstated 5 years ago. These past years, Kappa Sigma has worked to build an ever-growing relationship with the community, as well as the campus. In these past five years, Kappa Sigma has grown to become the largest fraternity on campus. We are continuing to rewrite our history and invite you to join us in our journey.
