Who We Are
    We are the students and professors from the 2006 Hobart and William Smith Environmental Studies Senior Seminar.  Our goal for this class was to break through the hype and learn the facts about ethanol and how it will effect us.

Patrick Sahradnik
He is a double major in environmental studies and economics.  He is a volunteer fire fighter and co-captain of the Hobart paintball team.
Adam Scott
He is an environmental studies major with a history minor.  He is co-captain of the Hobart varsity hockey team.
Justin Bauer
He is an environmental studies major and an international relations and english minor and he is a member of the HWS sailing team.  
Marilyn Cassedy
She is an environmental studies and ancient Greek double major from San Diego, CA. Although it is an uphill battle, she hopes to spread knowledge about ethanol throughout the country. Marilyn is also an avid enthusiast of literature, free time, and girl-on-girl wrestling.
John Keating
He is an environmental studies major with an education minor.  He is a member of the HWS sailing team and the Hobart squash team.
Mandi Markee
She is a double major in physics and environmental science with a minor in computer science from San Diego, CA.  She is co-captain of the HWS sailing team and plans to attend graduate school in geophysics.
Jay Mills
He is an double major in environmental studies and economics with a minor as a writing colleague.  He is interested in energy markets. He is also on the HWS sailing team.
Sara Vogel
She is a double major in environmental studies and political science, with a minor in art history. She is on the HWS sailing team.
Kathryn Loddengaard
She is a geoscience and environmental studies double major.  She also is on the William Smith crew team and plans on going to graduate school to pursue a career in oceanography.
Jessica Hardy
She is a religious studies and environmental studies double major with a geoscience minor.  She is a member of the Perfect Third a cappella group.
Jen Voce
She is majoring in environmental studies and english while minoring in education. She enjoys reading, playing Ultimate Frisbee, baseball/softball, and social interaction.
Nikki Dudley
She is an environmental studies major, education minor, and a member of the William Smith soccer team. Once she graduates she will being attending HWS to get a masters degree in education. She then plans to teach at an elementary school and coach varsity athletics.
Helen Carr
She is a geoscience and environmental studies double major at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. She enjoys being outdoors and is looking to pursue a career in the environmental sciences.
Thomas Kelley Evans
He majors in environmental science (B.A.) and minors in english. He hopes that this website will serve as a tool to educate those seeking a broad understanding of ethanol and the issues surrounding it.
 
He is an Associate Professor of Economics and Director of Environmental Studies at HWS.  His main area of research is energy and the environment.
He is a professor of Geoscience and contributes to the Environmental Studies program at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. His primary interests include hydrogeochemistry, geolimnology and
paleoclimatology, and is the founder and active contributor to the Finger Lakes Institute. He is also very interested in alternative energy systems and co-teaches multidisciplinary, energy-focused,
environmental studies courses with Professor Thomas Drennen of the
Economics Department. Drennen and Halfman co-taught this Group SIE.
