    The three main environmental issues involved with the ethanol production process and use are:
 
 Air
  1. • Emissions released during the ethanol production process.
  2. • Vehicular emissions from the use of ethanol.
 
 Water
  1. • Water used in the production process.
  2. • Waste water created by the production process.
 
 Soil
  1. • Soil erosion from farmland.
  2. • Pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers used to grow the corn needed to produce the ethanol.
