Hello and Welcome!

This is the web site of the Bampton Project. The Bampton Project was completed over the Spring 2003 semester and Summer of 2003 by Karl A. Brautigam, III (Hobart '04). It was completed in conjunction with the Hobart Deans Office and the Hobart Heritage Series, with help from various HWS alumni, alumnae, administrators, and members of the Colleges' Archives and the Geneva Historical Society.

This project tells the story of various aspects of 720 South Main Street -- the original family that occupied the house for almost four generations (some of whom were HWS graduates), the man who made the house possible and his service to the Colleges, and the induction of the house into the HWS Residential Education System.

The Bampton Project was made possible through sponsorship provided by the Hobart Deans Office and the Hobart Heritage Series.

It is my hope that you will enjoy the project. I felt that by completing a project of this magnitude, I would be paying respect and tribute to a man who has helped in shaping Hobart & William Smith Colleges into what it is today.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Karl A. Brautigam, III
