Kirra Guard, WS ’08


Kirra graduated from William Smith with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2008 and a Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2009. Her master’s thesis explored the impact of the presence of a dog in the classroom on the motivation and academic performance of at-risk middle school students. She is currently enrolled in a doctoral program in School Psychology at Lehigh University.


Casey Marshall, WS ’09


Casey graduated from William Smith in 2009. During her time at HWS, she worked with Professor Kingery on the middle school transition and friendship/anxiety research projects. She also completed a senior honors project on the literacy level and family reading habits of incoming kindergarten students in Geneva. Casey is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in school psychology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Tyson Reuter, H ‘09


Tyson graduated from Hobart College in 2009. He completed an honors research project on friendship quantity/quality and social anxiety among college students with Professor Kingery during the 2008-2009 academic year. Tyson is interested in pursuing graduate study in the field of clinical psychology.

Kyle Whitaker, H ’11


Kyle is a rising junior from Hobart College. He completed the 2009 Summer Science Program with Professor Kingery. He worked on the summer camp study and the friendship/anxiety review project. Kyle is a double-major in Psychology and Mathematics with a minor in Education. He is also a Teaching Fellow in the Psychology department.

Kelly Peneston, WS ’10


Kelly is a rising William Smith senior. She designed the summer camp study at Camp Talooli where she has worked the past several years. She will be completing an independent study during the Fall ’09 semester to analyze the results of this project. Kelly is tentatively planning to pursue graduate study in the field of School Psychology.
